Why Your Body Changes Fast When You Give It What It Can Digest, Not Just What You Think Is Healthy
We have just returned from our Health Dynamics retreat in India with 11 incredible people who experienced profound transformation in only seven days. The retreat centre we partnered with usually runs 21-day programs, and their senior doctor said to us, “I have never seen people shift this fast before.”
If you would love to experience this level of transformation yourself, the retreat dates for next year are now confirmed. You can find them below.
The biggest revelation for participants was this: you are not only what you eat, you are what you digest. When you stop fighting your body and start feeding it according to its true needs, healing becomes fast and effortless.
This month’s newsletter explores one of the most powerful Ayurvedic principles behind these rapid changes: the 10 Opposites. Once you understand these qualities, you can make sense of your digestion, your weight, your energy and your health in a way that modern nutrition simply cannot explain.
10 Opposites Critical to Good Health
In Ayurveda, it is not just what you eat or how you live; it is the qualities of those foods and activities and how they interact with your body.
Every person has a unique path to health. Some thrive on spicy, heating foods like ginger and chilli. Others will immediately overheat and trigger skin rashes, irritability and digestive issues.
Dry foods like barley or dried fruits may seem healthy, but for a Vata body type, they increase dryness and imbalance.
When you understand your constitution, those patterns make sense.
Ayurveda is the science of opposites
There are 10 pairs of opposing qualities that describe all foods, herbs, activities and environments:
-
Cold and Hot
-
Oily and Dry
-
Heavy and Light
-
Gross and Subtle
-
Dense and Liquid
-
Soft and Hard
-
Static and Mobile
-
Sticky or Cloudy and Clear
-
Slimy or Smooth and Rough
-
Slow and Sharp
The rule is simple: like increases like and opposites bring balance.
If a condition has a quality, adding more of that quality makes it worse.
If you apply the opposite, the body moves back into balance.
This is how Ayurveda restores health at the root.

It Is Not Just the Calories You Eat
It is also how your individual body processes food, what imbalances you already have and what your body type needs.
This is why one-size-fits-all programs do not work.
When you know yourself, everything becomes easier:
-
You lose weight without dieting
-
Your digestion becomes consistent
-
Your energy increases
-
Your nervous system settles
-
Your skin improves
-
You age more gracefully
This is the real path to long-term health.

Warm your digestion before every meal |
|
Before eating, take 3 to 5 slow breaths and drink a sip of warm water or ginger tea. This awakens your digestive fire, reduces bloating and helps your body absorb nutrients more efficiently. It is a simple Ayurvedic ritual that takes seconds and improves digestion for the long term. Ginger tea: If you suffer from reflux, reduce the amount of ginger or simply drink plain hot water instead. |
