3am wake up again? Here’s what your body is trying to tell you

Time for a Restart

You know that moment when your phone is slow, hot and burning through its battery? You can close the apps one at a time, clear the photos, turn down the brightness. Or you can switch it off and on again, and suddenly it runs like new.

Your body is asking for that restart. Nowhere is it clearer than with sleep and hormones.

“I fall asleep fine, then I’m wide awake at 3am.” “I wake up hot and wired and can’t get back down.” “Menopause has turned me into someone I don’t recognise.”

Ayurveda offers a clear way to read this.

The night runs in cycles. 10pm to 2am is Pitta time, when your liver does its deep processing. If it’s overloaded, you wake hot, restless or sweaty. 2am to 6am is Vata time: light, airy, mobile. If your nervous system is depleted, that’s when your mind switches on and won’t switch off.

Menopause is a transition from the Pitta stage of life into the Vata stage. Pitta brings the heat (flushes, night sweats, irritability). Vata brings the dryness, anxiety and light, broken sleep. The transition is natural, but when there’s also a load of Āma, a tired liver and blood sugar on a rollercoaster, it gets a lot bumpier than it needs to be.

That’s the 28-Day Detox. It isn’t more apps running in the background. It’s a proper restart.

Prep week begins Monday 2 November. This is the last newsletter before we begin. I’d love you to be in the group.

If you’re on HRT or other medication, the Detox can work alongside your GP’s care. Just let us know in your intake.
