You Did Everything Right This Month. So Why Do You Still Feel Stuck?
Your body has been clearing all spring. Something else has been quietly holding on.
You scraped your tongue. You lightened your dinners. You walked in the early morning when every part of you wanted the snooze button. And some mornings you still wake up with a weight in your chest that no amount of warm water seems to shift.
That’s not failure. That’s the last room in the house.
Think about a proper spring clean. You wipe the benches, clear the fridge, open every window. The kitchen gleams. Then you go to put the scissors away and the junk drawer won’t close. Old receipts, a birthday card you never answered, keys to a house you don’t live in anymore. You didn’t notice it while you were busy scrubbing. But it’s been sticking the whole time.
September has been the benches. We’ve worked on the body: why spring feels heavy, how food becomes medicine, how your morning sets the tone for the day. This week is the drawer.
Why Ayurveda never separates the two
Ayurveda (India’s traditional system of medicine, around 5,000 years old) doesn’t draw a line between what you digest on your plate and what you digest in your life. Kapha, the heavy, earthy energy that builds up over winter and melts in spring, doesn’t only store mucus and sluggish digestion. It stores attachment. Old stories. The half-finished conversation. The “I’ll deal with it later.”
And just like food that isn’t fully digested turns into Ä€ma (sticky residue, or toxins, that clogs the system), feelings that aren’t fully processed leave a residue too. It sits in the chest the way a heavy meal sits in the belly.
In clinic, I watch this every spring. People do the body work beautifully and still feel stuck, until we name what the mind has been holding while the body tried to let go. The moment they name it, something shifts. Not dramatically. Just a drawer that finally closes.
This is not about forcing a breakthrough. It’s emotional spring cleaning: gentle, honest, practical.
How to clear one drawer this week
-
Pick one drawer, not the whole house. One resentment, one worry that loops at 2 am, one obligation you’ve outgrown.
-
Write it down in plain words. Kapha loves fog. Naming something on paper is like turning the light on in a cluttered room: it’s still messy, but now you can see it.
-
Move it through. Walk while you talk it out with someone you trust, journal for ten minutes, or bring it to a session if it belongs in clinic. Emotions, like digestion, clear better with movement.
-
Pair it with the body habits you’ve already built. Warm mornings, bitter and pungent lunches, early movement. Body and mind clear on the same tide.
What comes next
Before we step into October, take a moment to look back. Over four Tuesdays we’ve covered a lot of ground: If you missed any, click the link below to get you up to speed.Â
-
Week 1: why spring feels heavy, and how a simple morning tongue scrape starts clearing what winter left behind. (link)
-
Week 2: your digestive fire, and how warm, lighter, bitter and pungent food (and a cup of CCF tea) keeps it burning. (link)
-
Week 3: the morning window, and why moving early sets up your whole day. (link)
-
Week 4: clearing the thoughts that keep the drawer from closing.
You don’t need to do all of it. Pick the few that fit your life and keep doing them until they stop feeling like “health habits” and simply become how you live. Like brushing your teeth: no willpower required; it’s just what you do.
And if you’re ready to go deeper, that’s where October comes in.
Think about your car. Every so often you book it in for a service. You don’t balk at it, and you don’t wait for smoke to pour out of the bonnet. You do it because you know that if you don’t, the car will eventually break down (usually at the worst possible moment).
Your body is the vehicle you run your whole life in. It carries you to work, to the people you love, to everything you want to do. And just like a car, it will break down if it never gets a reset. Your daily habits are the oil top-ups. A detox is the full service.
Through October, I’ll walk you through why detox matters and how it actually changes your life: what happens in your body when you reset, who it suits, what to expect, and how to get ready.
That deeper reset starts Monday, 2 November 2026: our 28-Day Detox Reset. For now, just hold the date. Or join now to get a head start.
If you’ve followed along these four Tuesdays, you’ve already got a runway. Close the drawer. Keep the habits. See you in October.
P.S. September was the warm-up. October is the lead-in. November is the reset. Reply DETOX now, and we can have one of our team reach out to you.Â
